My first time writing about my experiences was in the Spring of 2012, when I spent four months studying abroad in Cape Town, South Africa. I recently looked back on the blog posts that I had written during that time and they made me so happy. It was an extremely unique experience, as our program gave us the opportunity to live with families via homestays. There is no better way to get to know another culture than by creating relationships with people. Over the course of four months, we lived with four different families all who had different socio-economic backgrounds. It was an incredible way to learn about South Africa. Want to learn more? I found the blog!
My second foray into blogging started in September 2013, when I moved to Peru to be a Peace Corps Volunteer. My blog was titled "800 Days in Peru," but ~ spoiler alert ~ I didn't stay that long. I get asked often about my Peace Corps experience and I have absolutely no regrets; it was an incredibly unique year. I got to work in the field in public health, teaching women and children about nutrition, sanitation, and hygiene, and also taught sex-ed and English classes in the local high school. You can learn more about my time in Peru here.
